What are your candles made of?
We only use the highest quality of ingredients to make our candles;
Natural Coconut Soy Wax – Made in Sydney, all natural wax
Fragrance Oils – Made in Australia. They are vegan-friendly and free from parabens and phthalates.
Wood Wicks – eco friendly, made from pure natural wood, biodegradable and renewable. Many wicks can be produced from 1 tree.
Vessels – Glass, reusable, refillable.
How long should I burn my candle for:
The first burn should be for around 4 hours.
Did you know that Soy Wax has a memory? I know right? how can it have a memory?
Your candle will remember its first burn. Four hours will allow for the wax to heat and create a ‘full melt pool’. This means that the wax has fully melted across the width of the vessel. This creates a memory, and the candle will ‘remember’ to burn like this for its lifetime. If you stop burning your candle before it can create a full melt pool, the candle will remember where it burned to and burn to that point each time you light your candle. The wax that hasn’t melted to the edge leaves a wax residue around the inside of the jar. As the candle burns down, this creates a tunnelling effect.
After the first burn, you should burn your candles for no more than 4 hours at a time. After 4 hours, extinguish your candle. Allow your candle time to re set (up to 2 hours depending on the size of the jar), cut the wick down and relight.
Burning for any longer than 4 hours can over heat the jar, making it very hot to touch and can cause possible cracking of the jar.
Do I need to trim the wick in my candle before burning?
Yes, please. Your candle will be made with the wick cut the correct length for the first burn. After each burn trim the wick back to 5mm high prior to relighting. We use wood wicks, so if you don’t have a trimmer, you can just break off the charred end bits with your fingers. This will generally also trim the wick to 5mm. Trimming the wick each time before burning allows the candle to burn at a safe temperature. After time, if not trimmed, the wick will burn hotter (due to excess amount of wick) therefore burning quicker. This can also affect the strength of the scent as being too hot tends to ‘burn the scent off’ rather than dispersing it evenly in the air.
